Louise has been a musician since she was small, learning piano from age
6 and singing in a Church choir from age 7. She studied Music and French
at Reading University, specialising in performance. She studied conducting at the Conservatoire de Pau
in the south of France during her year abroad,
and returned to direct the Reading University Singers for two years. With them she
organised and conducted around three concerts a year, with music ranging
from early sacred to modern secular, and also visited Cathedrals to sing
Evensong. Whilst at University she was also the organiser of the Lunchtime Concert Series which took
place most weeks during term-time and the experience she gained then has been very useful in subsequent musical
activities since.
Having graduated, Louise took the position of Organist and Choir Director
at St John's Church in Crowthorne, and later moved to the same position at Christ Church,
Reading where she spent five happy years with a lovely choir. Nowadays, she teaches piano both privately and
at Queen Anne's School, Caversham and Shiplake College, where she also directs the Chamber Choir.
Over the last five years she has been delighted to watch Tamesis growing from a slightly mad-cap venture
to a thriving and hugely fun chamber choir. Tamesis has turned out to have exactly the ethos and
atmosphere that she imagined in the days when she was
running around trying to publicise the 'new' chamber
choir in the area and she is extremely happy and proud to be part of it!
